Is Lucideck free?
Yes — Lucideck is free to download and use. Scanning, card creation, Classic Flip, and Lightning Round study modes are all free. Multiple Choice, Type the Answer, and Listen & Guess are Pro features.
Which languages does Lucideck support?
Lucideck supports over 60 languages including French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, and more. If a language has text that can be photographed or spoken, Lucideck can work with it.
How do I scan a photo or screenshot?
Tap the scan button and choose "Pick photos" to select one or more images from your camera roll — a menu, street sign, screenshot, packaging, anything with foreign text. Lucideck reads the text using on-device OCR, detects the language, translates it, and lets you save it as a flashcard.
OCR runs on your device, so your photos never leave your phone.
What is auto-scan?
Auto-scan searches your entire camera roll for photos that contain foreign-language text. If you've been collecting screenshots from language apps, photos of menus, or shots of signs from trips, auto-scan surfaces them all and lets you turn them into cards in bulk — without having to select images one by one.
How does the dictation feature work?
Tap the mic and speak a phrase — either in your native language (to get the translation into your target language) or directly in a foreign language (for example, if someone else speaks a phrase you want to learn). Lucideck transcribes the speech, detects the language automatically, and creates a card in the correct direction.
What is spaced repetition?
Spaced repetition is a study technique that schedules each card based on how well you know it. Cards you find easy appear less often; cards you struggle with come back sooner. Lucideck uses the SM-2 algorithm — the same one behind Anki — to schedule your reviews.
What study modes are available?
Lucideck includes five study modes: Classic (flip and rate), Lightning Round (timed), Multiple Choice, Type the Answer, and Listen & Guess. You can also choose whether to study foreign→native or native→foreign.
Can I export my cards?
Yes. Lucideck exports to Anki (.apkg), CSV, and JSON. Your cards belong to you.
Does Lucideck work offline?
Studying your existing cards works fully offline. Creating new cards from photos requires a connection for translation. OCR runs on-device and works offline.
I found a bug or something isn't working — what should I do?
Email us at hello@lucideck.app with a description of the issue, your device model, and iOS version. Screenshots or screen recordings are always helpful. We take bug reports seriously and respond quickly.
How do I delete my data?
All your data is stored locally on your device — Lucideck does not maintain any servers or cloud storage of its own. Before deleting, you can export your cards to Anki, CSV, or JSON from within the app. To remove everything, delete the app from your device. Your data in iCloud or device backups is managed by your device settings, not by Lucideck.
