Privacy Policy
Fifth Axis Labs ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Lucideck mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes what information the App handles, where it goes, and why.
The short version: Lucideck has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your flashcards are stored on your device. To read text in your photos, translate it, and play pronunciation audio, the App sends the minimum it needs to the third-party services described below. We never sell your information.
Information Stored On Your Device
The App stores the following locally on your device, using your device's built-in storage. We have no servers that store it and cannot access it:
- Flashcard content you create (words, translations, notes)
- Deck names and study session history
- App preferences and settings
Photos and Text Recognition
The App asks for camera and photo library access so you can turn text in images into flashcards. Photos are only processed when you choose to scan them or start an auto-scan.
- Scanning a photo (camera or photo picker): a resized copy of the image is sent to Google Cloud Vision to read its text, because it is much more accurate than on-device recognition for many languages and scripts. If Cloud Vision is unavailable, the image is read on your device instead.
- Auto-scan reads your photos on your device using on-device text recognition. Only images it cannot confidently read are sent to Google Cloud Vision for a second pass.
Images are used only to extract text. Lucideck does not store your photos on any server. Google's handling of these requests is described in the Google Cloud Privacy Notice.
Translation
Text recognized in your photos, typed into a card, or dictated is sent to Google Translate to detect its language and translate it. This text is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Pronunciation Audio
In the free version, pronunciation uses your device's built-in voices and stays on your device. For Lucideck Pro subscribers, the text of the card being spoken is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate higher-quality audio.
Voice Dictation
If you create a card by speaking, the App uses Apple's speech recognition. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process the audio on its servers, as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. Lucideck does not record or keep your audio.
Advertising
The free version of the App shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, measure them, and limit how often you see the same one, AdMob may collect information such as your IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. The App does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps, so your device's advertising identifier is not shared. Lucideck Pro subscribers do not see ads. Purchases and Subscriptions
Payments are handled by Apple. We never receive your payment details. Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated user ID (not linked to your name or email), your purchase history, and basic device and app information, so that your Pro access works and can be restored. If you installed the App from an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple's attribution information (such as which campaign you came from) is shared with RevenueCat so we can understand which ads lead to subscriptions. Information We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information. There are no accounts
- Precise location or contacts
- Usage analytics. The App contains no analytics SDK
- Crash reports, beyond what Apple provides to all developers if you opt in
Your Choices
- You can allow or revoke camera, photo, microphone, and notification access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Upgrading to Lucideck Pro removes ads.
- You can export your cards from the App, and delete everything by deleting the App.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
